Assistant manager

To assist the salon director in planning, organising, controlling and leading the operation of the flagship Beauty salon based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex in order to achieve the sales and profit targets and standards of excellence. You will be reporting to the Salon Director.Main duties and responsibilities.

In order to effectively carry out the duties of a Salon Manager you will be required to liaise with and establish good working relationships with the Salon Director. You will be required to handle customer concerns effectively liaising at all times with the Salon Director. After receiving training, you will be required to follow the company systems for recording, sales, employing team members, reprimand and discipline, petty cash, banking (where appropriate), communications, and record keeping. You will be required to use the computer to produce various computer reports and complete various reports to evaluate sales. Copies of all daily and weekly salon paperwork will need to be kept for a minimum of 12 weeks for checking and auditing purposes.

Responsibilities

It is your responsibility to ensure that all team members are aware of and adhere to the Company’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

As a Salon Manager it is important that you keep up-to-date with new developments in beauty, and be aware of new products and techniques appropriate to the business so that these can be discussed at team meetings, which needs to be conducted on a regular basis, and so you can discuss any ideas for sales development with your Regional Manager.

Performance targets

To review and praise team members informally on a daily basis and more formally at appropriate intervals as discussed with the Salon Director. During your reviews you should be setting and agreeing targets. In order to help team members achieve their targets you will be required to explain to the team how their targets are calculated.

During your review or discussions with the Salon Director you will agree your personal work, sales retail sales and repeat customer targets, which will need to be achieved. You will agree annual salon sales target with the Salon Director, which you are responsible for achieving. You will be required to constantly monitor and control all costs e.g. payroll, petty cash, retail, telephone etc., and take appropriate action, following discussion with the Salon Director, to correct any deviation from the targets set.

Marketing and promotions

The salon may, from time to time, participate in national promotions as directed by the Salon Director. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of such promotions, you will be required to monitor the results and complete and return monitoring forms.

You should organise various promotions with your team. Again such promotions will need to be monitored and you will have to feedback to the Salon Director.

Training

The company offers a wide variety of training opportunities, which could be in-house, team meetings, internal demonstrations and promotional events, and regular manufacture and supplier training.

It is essential that you participate in and organise such events, in order for you and your team to maintain and develop new skills and techniques.

You must arrange training to meet the needs of your team and keep records of team members receiving training.
